Praise Emmanuel Children Home (PECH) Visit – Feb, 2009
Unknown | Saturday, January 9, 2010 | Labels: PECH
I along with some friends visited PECH PJ today.
There were 21 children aged 3 – 16 years old
in the home.
We had lunch with the kids and
spent time hanging around with them.
I was talking to some of them like Grace aged 14
who loves to sing and dance.
She used to sing along the lines
while she is read.
Her ambition is to become a lecturer.
Alvin who is aged 7 loves playing musical chair
and he loves tomato ketchup !
Banu, aged 16 who is the eldest in the home
is now studying Sec4 in Assunta high school.
According to her, she likes to study
and are really good at it.
Some of the rest I spoke to were
Sangutha, Devi, Oon and Mei.
The children were having fun
especially during the gift session.
They were exploring their gifts and
were finding out their friends gift as well.
They are also exchanging gifts among each other.
All of them were very active and
are not afraid to speak up.
Some of them loves badminton, watching dvd,
cats, reading, music, stickers.
Christopher Michael, the manager of PECH PJ
gave a short introduction about the home.
PECH basically has a total of 3 homes respectively
in PJ, Klang and Ipoh.
Each home has an average of 20 children.
Most of the children were from a single parent family
and some were abandon kids.
According to Chris, the monthly maintenance fees
of basic needs for the children comes up to about
RM15k per month for the 3 homes.
PECH is looking for volunteers
to develop the kids interest
such as music, computer, sports
and the usual donation (material & monetary).
I observed that @ PECH PJ,
their basic needs were met
from church support and
donation from public / organization.
What is more important is a dedicated time
to spend with these group of children
on their personal growth and development.
Perhaps it can be a simple chatting session
with them over the weekends or
just purely hanging around with them.
The home here @ PECH PJ would love
to have volunteers dedication
in teaching the children computer, music, or sports.
Anyone who would like to volunteer,
you may get in contact with Christopher Michael
@ 012-6303672 / pech@praise-emmanuel.com.
